Tekko Trainer Festival

Mossdeep's Moon Mission Logo

You are the newest class of Mossdeep Space Center cadets in training for a mission to the moon! Play training simulations of what you might expect during your mission, then test your skills against our Mission Commanders in a VGC or TCG battle to earn your rank. Don't worry if you don't make it the first time; you can retry as many times as you like and get coaching from Commanders in-between attempts. It won't be easy, but everyone can be a Captain with enough training!

Starting Your Training- Trainer IDs

In order to register for the Space Program, cadets must create a valid Trainer ID card. This card is customizable to each cadet's preference and will be laminated for posterity after completion. Cadets will use these cards as stand-ins so nobody has to wait in line- they can simply place their Trainer ID in the holder for the activity they wish to do, then sit to enjoy streams of other cadets’ performances or smaller, no-line activities while they wait. You are encouraged to add your Trainer ID behind your Tekko badge for easy carrying.

First stage- Blast Off Badge

The first stage of your mission is to leave Earth behind by riding high above the atmosphere in Rayquaza’s Dragon Ascent! Using two pulleys, carefully navigate up Rayquaza’s back to the very top in the clouds. Move quickly, as your speed determines your rank, but don’t fall off or you’ll fail the mission and have to try again. Afterwards, battle a high-flying, fire-blasting Commander in a Regulation I VGC match to finish the first part of your training.

Second Stage- Meteor Badge

Oh no! Dozens of meteors are in danger of striking and destroying your spacecraft! But wait, those aren’t just any meteors, they are Minior, the Meteor Pokemon! Take a spacewalk to throw pokeballs at them and catch as many as you can before they collide with your ship. After you catch the Minior, you’ll challenge a Commander who can summon the very might of meteors to a VGC Regulation I match, so prepare yourself well.

Third Stage- Lunar Badge

With your safe transit behind you, it’s time to make your descent upon the moon in Lunar Landers. Fling your ships from orbit over the lunar surface to land in the craters that score the most points. A successful landing allows you to challenge a Commander who uses pokemon and moves associated with the moon to a Regulation I VGC match to earn your badge.

Special Stage- Invader Badge

Earth is under threat from alien pokemon that are invading! Train for this mission by learning to play the TCG, then challenging either a special TCG Commander who uses pokemon who came from outer space or the DNA pokemon, Deoxys, in a Raid Battle alongside 3 other cadets. If you have trained for this mission on your personal time and already know how to play the TCG, you can simply do both challenges instead for this badge.

Panther’s Den Collaboration

Cadets, we are delighted to inform you that the elite Pokemon Go group known as “The Panther’s Den” will also be meeting in our building for the very first time! On Saturday, from 1-5 PM in the Registration Hall, you can join up with like-minded people to play Pokemon Go together. We are honored to host their second anniversary celebration, and a Tekko badge is not required to attend this unique social event. There will be separate giveaways and raffles, as well as some of last year’s challenge games, so don’t miss this limited-time opportunity.

Ranks

No two cadets are completely alike, and to accommodate the differing preparedness of each cadet, each badge challenge and Commander battle comes in three ranks. Ensign Rank should be attainable by all recruits with only a little effort. Lieutenant Rank cadets are expected to have a reasonable proficiency with all aspects of Pokemon, and will be tested accordingly. Captain Rank cadets will be subjected to the hardest challenges that the Commanders can offer and should bring their best to the table if they wish to win.

Excellence Awards

Completing activities of different levels will yield tickets that can be used to enter raffles or exchanged for smaller prizes like ready-made VGC pokemon, stickers, or booster packs. Every activity completed, badge related or not, grants at least 1 ticket even for failure. Badge challenges and Commander battles reward tickets determined by the highest rank achieved in each individual event; all other activities reward tickets based on each finish.

Tournaments, Gimmighoul hunt, coloring contest, and other activities

We here at the Mossdeep Space Center and the Tekko Trainer Festival pride ourselves on the length and breadth of our opportunities for excellence. We have two tournaments a day on Friday and Saturday, one for the TCG and one for the VGC players, each of which gives tickets and a special prize for winning. Exploration also brings rewards, as searching the greater area around the space center for our friendly companion Gimmighoul and bringing us a picture of him will net you a reward as well. (If you like, you might also trade trinkets with him!) There will also be a coloring contest, judged by our Commanders and Guests on Saturday night. And don’t forget, the hour following the close of the Space Center is the Pokemon Variety Hour, and who knows what could happen there.

Accessibility Statement

Pokemon is for everyone! However, we here at the Mossdeep Space Center realize that not every cadet will have the physical, mental, or social ability to complete some missions. All cadets, regardless of ability, may request an accommodation. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that every cadet has access to every badge.

All questions can be addressed to our Leading Commander, natalie.itzelle@teamtekko.us . See you in the stars!
